[1] '人形軟件'閱後感

i've finished Albert 譚劍兄's latest novel. It's a good read. It tries to blend in different elements: SF (cyber), terroist/adventure plot, HK local culutre (lament on demise of 'good old individual efforts of art and craft - food in this case; and rise of capitalistic logic), global (east european hackers, japanese). It's delivered to meet the 'market' need (i guess) - fast-paced, concise, and interspersed with witticism.
I like the touch at the ending (it's not SF, but it's a good twist in plot, and sort of sentimental and comforting as 'all is not lost - good and treasured things can remain' feel; it's not a spoiler as it's not to do with the main plot), and to say the truth, I'm a bit moved. (and sparks me off writing this brief re-cap)
As Albert admits at the writer's "afterword", it's a pop work and as a reader, I believe more length should be spent on the various characters to add to the 'strength' and build up (e.g. I think a chapter should be spent on the old style food shop). But i think then it will be, as Albert hints at, turned into a '曲高和寡' thing, readers won't bother to pick it up at the first place then la...
Albert is trying at the middle road, and I think he does a very good and commendable job :-)
On the SF part, the cyberworld is fancinating, and it can be adapted to local feel ah. It remains kind of 'black box' thing though. I guess we need some breakthrough on the present technology to achieve that kind of sophisticated and 'self-aware' software?
Anyway, looking forward to part II :-)
